At the end of the two hour session I feel weirdly confident: I could almost rush straight to Speakers’ Corner and let rip.

Lucy Atkins – The Daily Telegraph

Thanks ever so much for your help and understanding. Whatever you did worked a treat. In fact I’m utterly astonished at the reaction.

Julian P

Thank you. This is life-changing, and I can’t believe it took just two Zoom sessions with you.

My speech went down incredibly well! I received loads of compliments after. I was even told by one person it was the best Best Man’s speech they’d ever heard! I also really really enjoyed doing it. I got a real buzz from it and didn’t want it to end! I truly believe I’m a changed man. Thanks for all your help.

Dan S

My life has really changed. I can't believe what a difference your help has made. Thank you so much.

I just wanted to thank you and let you know that my Best Man’s speech was a rip-roaring success on New Year’s Eve! I couldn’t have done it without my sessions with you in Harley Street.

Justin H

Just wanted to drop you a quick email to say it went ok. More than ok, I sounded confident and my CEO emailed me after to say I was terrific! I have no idea how I did it, but when I got up there and started to speak it just came out.

Kerry B

[The presentation] went fantastically well. Lots of people afterwards came and said how much they enjoyed my talk. Most importantly I really enjoyed it – what a buzz! And I felt great for days after. It couldn’t have gone any better. I have my investor conference this Thursday which is what all of this has been about. When I think about it now I’m not nervous at all – what a change. So, in short, a big thanks for how you have helped me overcome this fear!!

Mark L

You may remember I’m the guy that came to see you last Saturday about public speaking.

I presented yesterday and rather than a blind uncontrollable panic at 9.5 on the Richter scale it was more a managed anxiety that crept up before I went on – and down after I started. I even had compliments after the event – which is a first. I am quite amazed at the change after just one session so thank you!

Stephen H

I met with you regarding a phobia of public speaking and the impeding “Best Man’s speech”.

The speech went perfectly well and not only the content but the delivery was complimented by many guests and the newlyweds. Something which I dreaded for so long actually turned into a very enjoyable experience. Thanks for your help,

Jack A

Just a quick note to say how grateful I am for your sessions re my public speaking phobia. My event went well, and I can even say that I enjoyed being up on stage after a while. So with your help I managed to speak in front of two hundred investment bankers in Black Tie - a situation which would have terrified me two weeks ago. So once again, thank you so much for your help. My company were more than happy with my performance, and I felt elated going back to the hotel at the end of the evening. Truly a challenge overcome.

Michael M

I just wanted to say a huge thank. Before I came in I didn’t possibly imagine that you could help me as much as you did.

I left you feeling so positive, like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. And as we were doing our final prep, whereas usually my heart would have been starting to pound I was calm and smiling!! I went to the presentation feeling positive. I literally couldn’t believe that as my part in the presentation approached,I was standing there smiling and as I began to talk my voice was calm,I looked outward and smiled. I am actually welling up writing this, as it was an amazing moment in my life. I feel like I don’t need to be scared any more.

I’ll keep working on my techniques, and hopefully this will be the start of a new chapter where I’m not restricted by my fear anymore.

Thank you so much, yesterday was amazing.

Liz L

Well what can I say except, Thank You for all your help. After my last session I left your clinic feeling on top of the world, I felt so confident, I could have presented there and then. This was such a success for me, the night before I slept like a log. In fact I felt that confident I not only delivered my part but also the part of the Senior Manager, I asked him not to stop me if I carried on, and I’d nod if I needed him, but I never did. I have another presentation on Thursday in London; I must say I’m looking forward to it. It’s everything I visualised and more. I’m finally free. Thank you soooooooo much.

Fiona N

I have great news as my speeches went very well indeed this week. The main benefit I felt was having no fear in the lead up to the events which left me so calm and not exhausted from my anxiety. I felt very relaxed and only slightly nervous on the day. I couldn’t actually believe how OK I felt and I received so many compliments on my speech afterwards. In fact they went so well, I have been asked to give extra talks at the next conference but I definitely do not have a fear of it. I feel great about the whole thing and now no longer have the feeling that I have a fear of speaking anymore and that feels quite exhilarating. I can’t believe how simple it was to get help for this and only wish I had done something sooner.

Ruth M

I definitely feel that I have conquered some demons, and the techniques you showed me were very useful. I wanted to say a big thank you as I really feel that I am now in a position to build on this in the future, and am so pleased I took the step to come and see you. Thanks so much.

Gareth C

Wow! It felt great and everyone loved the [best man’s] speech. It was weird: I was obviously thinking about the speech on and off for about a week beforehand but on the day I had a few butterflies but nothing more. And when I stood up I just felt relaxed, calm and was even chucking in ad hoc jokes.

It feels to me like this is just a starting point to go on to do other presentations/speeches etc. without that having that crippling fear beforehand that we talked about. Thanks again.

Thank you for managing to find time to see me at such short notice prior to the funeral. I have no idea why or how the sessions managed to change me in such a short space of time from a gibbering wreck to someone who; and I quote…. “spoke with great confidence and conviction” but I wish I had taken this step sooner. It would have saved me years of anguish and sleepless nights.

Just wanted to thank you again and give you an update from the wedding. The speech went very well and I felt relaxed just as you had predicted. I am in no doubt the 2 sessions made a massive difference and I am now a much more confident public speaker. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you. Thanks again.

Ted F

You will be pleased to hear that the Wedding I attended was a complete success and my best man’s duties were carried out without a hitch!

I received some excellent feedback on my speech, and [the bride and groom] were both touched and chuckled by it – which is the objective!

Thank you very much for your assistance. Your advice and methodologies were extremely helpful calming the nerves both before and during the course of the day. This meant that I was able to fully enjoy the occasion.
I now find myself wanting to become an accomplished public speaker – a position that I never considered that I would be in.

Matthew G

I am just writing to thank you for the sessions before my wedding.

On the day itself I did not seem to be worried too much. I belted out the wedding vows in the church and that gave me confidence for the speech (as people were quite impressed by that) and then when it actually came to the groom speech I was not nervous at all. Some people have said it was the funniest speech they had heard by a groom. So thanks. I will send you one of their complimentary emails. It actually made me want to do this kind of things more.

Simon W

I wanted to let you know how much you have helped me – it’s not just that I was able to enjoy saying my [wedding] vows, the treatment has had such a positive effect on the rest of my life too. I feel free from fear now and able to do anything I want to, both personally and professionally. I am a naturally confident person and my fear was stifling that. You may remember that my phobia of public speaking was starting to spill over into normal social situations where I was talking to maybe two or three people – the treatment has completely cured that too. I also would not read aloud (newspaper articles etc.) to even my closest friends for fear of having a panic attack and again, I am completely fine with that now. Over the years my phobia has affected every part of my life, from work to social situations and I would avoid many things because of it.

After just two sessions I feel like a different person and feel that this is the most life changing thing I’ve ever done – I say that even though I have just moved house, got married and will be moving to the USA!
Once again, thank you. Please also feel free to use any of my comments on your website etc.
Kind regards

Claire F

Just thought I’d let you know how I got on at my presentation on Tuesday morning. There were about 30 accountants/bankers etc. present.

Basically, I thought it went very well and the feedback I got from others was positive. As soon as I started talking it was fine. My bit only lasted about 6/7minutes so it wasn’t long but I didn’t rush it and I didn’t feel the need to get to the end at any point whilst talking, although it’s a bit of a blur now when I look back on it.
Thanks very much for your help! If I come across any colleagues who have the same issues, I’ll know who to recommend!

Regards,

Eddie R

I wanted to let you know how I was getting on after the phobia work we did together for public speaking. In fact, I had a big presentation this afternoon, and my nervousness was 2-3 out of 10, much calmer than before. I finished the presentation and felt like superwoman and my new manager (who’d never seen me speak in public before) came over afterwards and said to me “Wow Vicky, you are a natural presenter! No eeehrs or ahhs, very enticing and easy to follow.” I found this surprising, peculiar and amusing, because I am nothing but, and I believe I owe much to you for helping me improve so much in just two short sessions. Thank you.
Kind regards

Vicky K

I just wanted to say thank you. I had my assembly this morning and it went really well. I didn’t have the usual horrid build-up of worrying all week and although I had a couple of flutters in my stomach just before it started I didn’t have the usual physical panic symptoms, I had no shakes or blushing or rushing.
I feel much more positive about my ability to stand up in front of an audience now, and although I will never enjoy public speaking, I feel the fear of it is not going to dominate my life any more.
Many thanks again,

Ingrid V

It must be over a month since I went to Mindspa to seek help for a fear of public speaking. I felt really positive afterwards. This managed to slip over the two weeks: I had to wait for my next public speaking event because half of me just couldn’t see why it would make a difference. Fortunately, the other half of me believed.

The first difference I noticed was in a heads of business meeting. I am usually called upon to speak for the last couple of minutes which meant waiting an hour to build myself into a frenzy. In the first meeting, after my session at Mindspa, I was amazed at how calm I felt – my heart was not palpitating rapidly, my hands were not clammy, my head was not spinning. I even managed to ask a few questions outside of my time slot which I never would have dreamt of doing before. It also helped that I didn’t have to spend a couple of hours calming myself down post meeting and could just get on with my work.

The biggest change came last week when I was on a course. I had to give a 5 minute presentation. The prospect of a presentation before Mindspa was inconceivable however this time I again had none of my usual symptoms. I also did not have nightmares/disrupted sleep in the nights leading up to it. The most astonishing part came about half way through the presentation when I realised not only was I in control/coping but dare I say I was actually enjoying it.

The most positive aspect about Mindspa is that it does not feel like a gimmicky miracle cure, you have given me the tools to take control of my phobia and the more I work at it the more positive I become.

Now all I have to do is think of a pleasant way to spend all those free hours I used to spend stressing.
Many thanks

Hilary M

Just to let you know that the talk was a success, and i really have to thank you for the amazing work you did with me. I was a little nervous but in a manageable way and as more and more students turned up I was pleasantly surprised by my sense of calm. My voice was a little strange for about the first 2 sentences but after that it seemed to flow. I had written bullet points onto cards which I lost track with on the slides so I had to just ad lib but even that didn’t faze me, and afterwards i felt really pleased with how it had gone, and the students were really complementary.

Another thing i noticed as I left to come home was how I did not seem to be able to do the usual post mortem assassination on it, and myself that I always have done in the past: Ii could not engage with that emotional area, you know the sort of thing, how I imagine they must have felt about the work, and what that then means they think about me, even now as I write this I am unable to tie myself up in knots over it. This as the most liberating of feelings, the negative emotional attachment I had to it and my work has gone. In fact if they asked me to talk again I would say yes!

I am so delighted by my reaction to all of this; I wish I had done it a good few years ago. Thank you so much for your help.

With best wishes

Sarah S

Absolutely nailed the speech! Many of the audience came over to congratulate me…’best they’d seen…..fantastic…. great speech’ etc. The last session with Guy seemed to finally crack it for me – please give him my heart-felt thanks. Very much life-changing help from Guy – will be eternally grateful to him.

Edward S

I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thank you for all your help and coaching. Our wedding was on Saturday and the day went perfectly including my speech.

I was able to enjoy the lead up and day without too many nerves.

Thanks once again for all your help and encouragement and I will happily be recommending your services.

Kind Regards

Mark N

On Wednesday, I did the Town Hall presentation to about 150 people face-to-face in London and another 100 on video conference worldwide.

Here’s how it happened. I was the last person presenting, so that was really hard. Finally, it was my turn and I got up to present.

I don’t remember much of it, since it’s all a bit of a blur. But I do remember that I wasn’t in the slightest bit nervous when I was standing in front of the crowd. Normally my heart would be in my throat, my voice would be trembling etc.., but I had none of this. In fact, I felt a bit dissociated from the audience, with no real feelings of exposure at all. The presentation wasn’t perfect, but it went really well. At the end, I answered some questions from the audience, and felt quite comfortable standing in front of them. I got some good feedback from a number of people afterwards. One of them said that my presentation was both interesting and funny, which is quite an achievement given the subject matter (our budget).

I’m delighted. And I’m interested to see whether the increased confidence spills over into other areas at work.
I’m really very grateful to you for our sessions together. I have no doubt that they made the difference and enabled me to get through the whole thing and – more importantly – stand up in front of an audience without the horrible sense of dread that I experienced before now. This is a real milestone for me and it has rebuilt some internal confidence which had been sorely depleted by my own unsuccessful attempts to sort this out.

THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH.

Chris R

Since we last met I have undertaken 2 presentations quite successfully. The first was for 2 hours , the second 30 minutes. It seemed that before the 1st, I was in a “daze”, didn’t get the same panic attacks, it felt as if the presentation wasn’t going to occur! I felt very nonchalant. The second wasn’t such a detailed presentation, but just as I was about to begin I was told that we had to wait for the BIG boss to attend, even then this didn’t faze me and it went quite well

John M

Thanks ever so much for your help and understanding. Whatever you did worked a treat. In fact I’m utterly astonished at the reaction. In the end I gave both a speech and a film presentation principally because my best mate insisted that both ’deserved’ to be heard and seen.

The speech got plenty of laughs and the film had a room full of [city professionals] in tears (that’ll never happen again!). The default reaction was ‘fantastic’, from others ‘very accomplished’ and ‘you’ve raised the bar for best man speeches’, from the head of [large city firm], who came up to shake my hand afterwards and ask for a copy of my film ‘that was tremendous…..something really special’. You get the picture.

I’m not saying this because I want to boast (well maybe a bit!), but because I’m just bowled over by the feedback. Who’d have thought? But as you say….it’s a springboard. So again, I just wanted to say thank you ever so much for your confidence building, for re-arranging my brain (or whatever you did!) …

Thanks again and all the very best,

Julian P

I just did the lunchtime presentation. It went really well! The senior staff member attending said it was great and people seemed to be enjoying it and involved themselves. There were only about 6 in the audience but it’s how I handled it that pleased me. Once I got into it I didn’t feel anxious – I felt quite comfortable actually – and I did not get sweaty which is brilliant.

So I’m very pleased. Thanks for the two sessions recently and for emailing me last week, really appreciate it.

Andy H

You may remember that I sought your assistance regarding my fear of public speaking, and that I had to commence lecturing at the end of January at the University. Well, I’m four weeks in to the lecturing now, and I just wanted to email to say thank you – thank you very much – something in the sessions we had has obviously clicked with me, and I’m really pleased with myself! I write this with a smile on my face! The lecturing is going really well and I’m enjoying it – of all things, imagine! Today was a milestone for me, as I was observed by one of my colleagues, and although I didn’t get much sleep last night, when it came to it – I just went with it!

So many thanks for your support and keep up the good work! I mean this sincerely. Thank you.

Soozi M

The main presentation went really well – think I may have actually borderline enjoyed it! In fact, on the second day of the meeting I had a surprise – I was called back onto the stage to discuss the previous day’s activities - this time I didn’t feel anxious at all and just got up and spoke about the previous days workshops and breakout sessions for about 10 minutes and felt ok.

I have my next big presentation in 3 weeks’ time and feel fine about it – before now I would probably have been counting down the days!

Thank you very much for all your help – very, very appreciated!

Charlotte V

Just to let you know that my second presentation yesterday has gone really well.

I felt quite warm, professional & natural (if slightly detached) on stage and even having critically picked over every element in retrospect (as I do) I really think I did very well so thank you. I know I am on a longer journey to building self-confidence and belief but building up these new positive memories and just not letting the fear stop me taking part makes me feel like the bright future in my head is within my capability to reach.

Very best wishes

Deborah P

I just wanted you let to know that I managed to do my [wedding] speech and it went very well. I was a bit nervous (2 out of 10), but like you said once I started the rest became much easier. I was already feeling much better after our session last week and throughout the day of the wedding I started getting used to being the centre of attention. Although my speech wasn’t super funny, I managed to bring tears to my bride’s and my mum’s eyes. I’m so happy that I was able to confront my biggest fear. A lot of people said my speech was very touching.

Thank you so much for all your help. I wouldn’t have had such a lovely day if it wasn’t for you.

William T

Well I did it! I must confess it went as well as I could have hoped – I was able to pace it and look around and they laughed in the right places! A million thanks. I felt much calmer than i could have believed when I thought of the event.

Many thanks again

Kathleen M

It’s been a while since we met, but I just wanted to say thank you for your help with my phobia of public speaking. I think I have finally cracked it and can now put my phobia behind me.

I gave a presentation yesterday to a group of about 10 seniors and it went very well. By the end I was actually enjoying it and even ran out of time! Several of the audience came up to me afterwards to congratulate me on a job well done.

Thank you so much for your help. Hopefully I have now overcome what was a career-limiting handicap.

John A

What can I say, what a result !!!

A major difference. I was still very nervous, but it never showed. I didn’t say everything that I wanted to say in the best man’s speech, but it was said loud and clear and it was an enjoyable change to my confidence.

Many thanks for your help, I will be recommending you to anybody I know who in the future may be struggling with public speaking.

Aaron C

Just come out of the interview and there were no noticeable signs of nerves. The best interview I have had in 6 years and considering [investment bank] have a reputation for being ruthless! Amazing.

Thank you

Gareth J

Thank you for your sessions as they have really helped me in being able to do the induction [presentation] this morning.

It went really well and you could see that the people were engaged, interested and even had a few laughs along the way too. Since sitting down at my desk I am remembering the good points. Beforehand I would spend all my time focusing on the bad. I can’t wait for the next presentation to take my lessons learnt (everyone presents in a different way) forward.

Emma M

I came in to see you at the end of last year about a phobia of public speaking, which I was trying to overcome before giving a best man’s speech at a wedding in New Zealand. By the time i started speaking I was quite calm, got a lot of laughs, and I was even enjoying myself by the end of it.

Thanks for your help; it really gave me the ammunition to tackle the one aspect of my life I was most unhappy with.

Anton F

I’ve actually found that the one session I had and the techniques I’ve been given are working brilliantly. I’ve had a couple of very key presentations to give recently and they’ve gone extremely well and I’ve no problems with them at all. As such, I don’t think I need a 2nd appointment at this time, which is great …. I think I’m ‘fixed’!

Joe B

Just wanted to let you know the big presentation went extremely well yesterday.
Thank you for helping to make that possible.

Mike N

Thank you for all your help. It did make a difference as I was not as nervous as usual at all…and just did the presentation…spoke for 55 minutes and only felt a couple of blips, but not really nervousness like before.
Now I can actually present without this nervousness crippling me, so my next step is to present well…a step I have been looking forward to for some time!

Best wishes,

Emma P

I’d just like to thank you for your help. My best man’s speech went much better than expected on Saturday. I got a big laugh with my first joke which gave me a lot of confidence to pull off the rest of it. Every joke got a laugh and the sincere sections were also appreciated. I was slightly concerned when the Father of the bride gave exactly the same advice I wanted to give, but I managed to improvise this at short notice and this also got a laugh which was a bonus! Afterwards the groom thanked me for the speech and a lot of people who I didn’t know approached me to say how much they enjoyed it. I even got a message from the chief bridesmaid to say that a lot of people had been remarking to her how good it was.

So thanks again for your help. It certainly wouldn’t have been as good without it and I would not have had the confidence to pull it off.

David B

Just got out of the Dinner. I absolutely smashed it! It [after-dinner speech to a room of Army colleagues] couldn’t have gone better. I was back to my old self! I just need to build on this now.

Fresh back from honeymoon following the wedding last Friday … Everything went brilliantly: contrary to those suspicions I had about my nerves on the day, I was the picture of calm & enjoyed every minute of it.
I kept waiting for it to come (the nervousness) but it never arrived …

I would recommend it to anyone with similar trepidations.

First off, you can’t avoid public speaking. I know, I’ve tried every trick for the past 25 years to avoid it as much as possible. Even if you avoid it in a work-based scenario, there will always be a Wedding, an Anniversary or a funeral where you will be expected to speak. You can’t avoid it forever.

I had a very unpredictable phobia. Sometimes I could speak well publicly but sometimes the fear would just rise up out of nowhere and would result in an increased heart rate and sweaty palms. If I heard my voice waver slightly, the symptoms would worsen and then my voice would waver even more and I could feel my cheeks getting hot and going red.

If I lost my train of thought and paused for a second, the fear and symptoms would double. As a result of this physical reaction, I limited my career progression by deliberately avoiding jobs that involved presenting.

I chose technical roles but still ended up rising the ranks into positions where I had to present. I eventually reached Director level and it was a painful time professionally. I sought help online and read if you faced your fears you would overcome them. I volunteered to present at a national event to an audience of over 100. I rehearsed every single word for weeks. The nerves appeared but I got through it. I thought I’d fixed it. But I was wrong…

It kept coming back at random moments. There was no obvious trigger that I could identify.

I then moved to a new role and had to present for a client. At the last minute I was given a new “script” to present. I did not react well as I hadn’t “rehearsed” it. The phobia engulfed me, the increased heart rate and fear meant that I left the room before I was about to present feigning illness. It was a professional disaster.
That was the point when I knew I really needed help with this phobia.

I found Mindspa online and I wondered if I really could be helped with this or if I needed to just keep to roles with no presenting.

I had two of the online Skype sessions and it worked!

I’ve waited 7 months to write this testimonial to see if the results were long lasting. I’m pleased to say that they are. My confidence has grown and my nerves have disappeared. My professional life has improved but I’ve noticed that all interactions with new people and in new situations are more comfortable than before.

I’m must less anxious as a person now and this has meant that my overall quality of life has improved.

You've enabled me to make a massive improvement in my personal and professional life. I am forever grateful for what you did for me.

I just wish I had done this years ago.

Thank you!

Jack A
